How often do you celebrate your success? I mean REALLY celebrate—not just mentally patting yourself on your back, but also taking the time to pop open your favorite beverage, cook your favorite meal, order yourself a cake, and tell the world (or at least your family and friends): “Hey. I DID that!”
During the 2020 Pure Romance Virtual World Conference, it gave me chills to recognize the hard work and daily grind of successful Consultants rocking their Pure Romance businesses. I get it, many of us are hardwired to go from one project to the next without celebrating our success—myself included. But, starting from zero and building a business that you’re proud of should always be celebrated!
Slow Down
Even if your business isn’t where you want it to be, the simple fact that you’re alive and able to go out each day and make a change in the world is reason enough to celebrate! You possess the potential to wake up every day and make the world better than the way you found it.
When you do crush a goal? Slow down and take the time to soak it all in and acknowledge that accomplishment without rushing to the next success goalpost. I often see entrepreneurs neglect to celebrate a success because they’re more worried about reaching their next goal. Always acknowledge that you can do more and go further, but never forget to live in the present and celebrate your current success, no matter how big or small.
The Enemy of Great is Good
You must always be an advocate for yourself and your achievements. Acknowledging your accomplishments is one of the first steps in recognizing that you CAN do truly extraordinary things. Jim Collins once said, “The enemy of great is good.” Today, I encourage you to remove the word “good” from your vocabulary. You don’t want to have a good team; you want to have a great team. You don’t want to have a good business; you want to have a great business. You don’t want to have a good marketing plan; you want to have a great one!
Acknowledge that you CAN be great. Acknowledge the potential for greatness that is already inside you. What you’ll find with great leaders is that they have vision. They already know where they want to go and what they want to accomplish for themselves, their team, and their family. Never settle for good, even if it’s the easiest thing to do, because it won’t be the most beneficial in the long run.
What if you could have a billion-dollar company? What if you could crush all of your goals and live your life by design? What if I told you that these two things are possible? Because they are! To achieve these goals, you must take time to acknowledge where you came from and where you’re going. Remember, success is nothing if not celebrated.
